This hurts. But it must be done. We are sad to announce that the New Jersey Maritime Museum will be closed to the public for at least the next four weeks. This action has been taken to protect the safety and health of our patrons and our volunteers. While small museums like ours do not yet fall into the facilities that must close, it is the responsible move to reduce any chance of spreading the coronavirus.
We will be using the down time to have some major maintenance work done on the heating and cooling systems as well as fixing some pesky leaks in the roof. This is work that would have interfered with normal open museum activity. When we do reopen, we will be a much improved facility.
We will be available to help you with museum related business by phone (609-492-0202) and by e-mail ( info@njmm.org ). But please don’t stop by unannounced.
Local stores and restaurants are offering both delivery and pick-up services to the public. You are encouraged to take advantage of these retailers. They need the business. If you have a bad case of cabin fever, take a walk. Fresh air out in the open is invigorating, not contagious.
Be safe. Stay healthy. We will get through this together.
