In accordance with the guidance from state and local health officials and our concern for our museum patrons, we are compelled to cancel the museum program we had scheduled for this Friday, March 20, at Buckalew’s. We enjoy seeing you at these programs. But seeing you safe and healthy is more important. Gene Peterson has agreed this action is appropriate and has offered to give his presentation to our members at a future date.
Over the next two weeks, we will decide if it is advisable to also cancel the program planned for April. You will receive a follow-up announcement regarding that event. Finally, we will decide this week on whether we should close the museum to visitors.
All this is intended to lower the risk of healthy individuals from coming in contact with others who are positive virus carriers and don’t yet know it. It is possible to carry COVID-19 for up to 14 days and feel no symptoms. The health officials advocate taking every measure to “lower the risk of exposure curve”. We must do our part. Thank you for your continued support of the NJ Maritime Museum. Be safe. Stay healthy.
