Happy Hour drink prices are available at the bar. A donation of $10 per guest to offset expenses will be collected at the door. Our guest speakers will be Capt. Joe Mazraani and Jennifer Sellitti on behalf of the crew of the dive boat Tenacious. The subject of the presentation is The Civil war on the Jersey Shore

This is the story of the Confederate Steamship Tallahassee, a daring August 1864 raid that stretched from the Jersey Shore to Halifax, and a Union Navy manhunt.  For 19-days in August of 1864, the C.S.S. Tallahassee disrupted Union commerce and struck fear in the heart of merchant sailors when it laid siege to vessels and fishing boats off the New England Coast.  The raid involved the destruction of more than 30 vessels, nine of them in the waters between Sandy Hook and Fire Island.  It was not only the success of the raid but Captain John Taylor Wood’s enigmatic style that made the Tallahassee a Confederate Navy legend in the last year of the Civil War.  Many are surprised to learn that this final hurrah for the Confederate cause occurred not in the deep south but right here in New Jersey.

Active members only may reserve space up until Monday, Jan 6th, after which time any remaining seats will be made available to the public. Reservations may be made by phone at 609-492-0202 or by e-mail at info@NJMM.org.

I hope to see you there.

Best wishes for the holidays and the happiest New Year ever !
